As I have lived, little by little,I carved myself into the shape of someone else, not my own.

Things became peaceful when I was the one who endured, and because I was afraid of conflict,I slowly smoothed my edges with words like“It’s okay” and “It doesn’t matter.”

I think I wanted to become a round personwho would not catch on anyone.

As I became rounder,I did not catch on anything and easily rolled wherever I went. But in the end, I could not settle anywhere.

Scattered pieces of emotions, and the edges of myself that I had carved away.

The me who could honestly say what I wanted to say,and who knew how to say no when I didn’t like something.

Looking at those pieces, I thought:

Perhaps being myselfis not in the version of me shaped to please others, but somewhere within the edges that I erased.

Because I do not have to remove every edgeto become a good person.

Even if I am a little awkward, even if I am a little sharp, that version of me was also me.
